The Gentle Start – Complete Antenatal Course- €169
A calm, evidence-based antenatal course designed to help you feel informed, supported, and confident — without overwhelm or pressure to have a "perfect" birth.
Session 1: Understanding Birth & Feeling Prepared- 1Hr 30mins
This session focuses on helping you feel grounded and informed as you approach birth.
We explore how labour usually begins and progresses, using clear, non-clinical language and evidence-based information. We'll gently unpack common fears and myths around birth, and talk about choice, consent, and what it really means to feel prepared.
Birth partners are included throughout, with space to understand their role and how they can offer meaningful support.
This session is about reassurance, not rules — helping you trust your body, your instincts, and your ability to meet birth as it unfolds.
You'll come away with:
-
A clearer understanding of how labour works
-
Reduced fear of the unknown
-
A sense of calm and confidence moving forward
Session 2: Coping, Support & Making Decisions in Birth-1Hr 45 mins
This session is practical, realistic, and deeply reassuring.
We look at comfort and coping strategies for labour, including movement, breathing, touch, aromatherapy and creating a supportive environment. Partners will learn practical ways to support during labour and how to adapt as things change.
We also explore common medical interventions — why they're offered, what they involve, and how to make informed decisions while maintaining dignity and autonomy.
The focus is on flexibility and compassion, recognising that there is no single "right" way to give birth.
You'll come away with:
-
Practical tools for coping with labour
-
Confidence in supporting or being supported
-
Greater ease around decision-making and change
Session 3: The Early Days, Emotions & Becoming a Family-1hr 30 mins
This session prepares you for the realities of early parenthood — gently and honestly.
We talk about the early postnatal period, emotional changes, sleep expectations, and feeding in a non-judgemental way. There's space to explore identity shifts, relationship changes, and how to care for your mental health during a time of huge adjustment.
Rather than striving for perfection, this session focuses on self-compassion, support, and building confidence over time.
You'll come away with:
-
A more realistic and kinder view of the early days
-
Reassurance around emotional and practical adjustment
-
Confidence in asking for and accepting support
